Laidlaw Electrical Ltd was established in May 2001 and is looking forward to being in business for many years to come. We specialise in domestic and LIGHT COMMERCIAL electrical work. Residential and Commercial Maintenance.’We are local, efficient and pride ourselves on getting the job done on time’.
We are an approved contractor of the National Inspection Council of Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC) which means we are part P compliant,We can also issue building control certificates where these are required by law. (this is law since January 2005).
All work conforms to the current edition of the IEE wiring regulations and codes of practice and all accessories will comply with the relevant British Standards. Quality workmanship and Customer Service go hand in hand.. We are proud of our record of delivering high quality customer service.

I had some new sockets installed by Grant and I was very happy with the work. Everything from initial contact, through Grant visiting to assess for a quote and then the work being done was really positive - he turned up when he said he would, everything was done really efficiently and tidily, and the price quoted was very reasonable. Laidlaw Electrical would be the first company I would call if I needed any electrical work done in the future.

We are delighted with the work Grant has done. He is extremely reliable and efficient in all that he does and takes real pride in ensuring the job is done well. He communicates brilliantly explaining everything clearly. He split some circuits, installed some new sockets/lights, fitted a new consumer unit and simplified and ordered the cabling in our basement. He thinks about usability and practicality when he is working. Certification documents were sent over immediately after the work was completed and we would not hesitate to recommend him. We have used different electricians in the past but in the end, employing Grant to do the job properly the first time is much better!

Having called upon Laidlaw Electrical before to do a full electrical check of my house, it was a no-brainier that I’d call upon their services again. We recently had Grant come in to replace the overhead lights in our office kitchenette, and he did an outstanding job. He was punctual, professional, and efficient from start to finish. Grant made sure everything was safely installed, cleaned up after himself, and even took the time to ensure the lighting was just right for the space. The new lights have completely transformed the area—it's brighter, more inviting, and much more functional. Grant carried out a number of jobs for us including switching the fuse box, installing spotlights, hardwiring smoke alarms, moving sockets and an EIC. He was always punctual. He gave us a quote within 2 days of visiting which was competitive with others we had received and he gave us useful advice which we really appreciated as first time buyers. Grant spotted a number of things whilst completing the work which were potentially unsafe and rectified them. He gave us timely updates and was flexible with other work we had going on around the house. We would definitely use him again and recommend his services to anyone.

When it comes to electrics you need a professional, and I do recommend Grant Laidlaw of Laidlaw Electrical. I have used his services for several years and would not use anyone else. He really knows his stuff, is reliable, trustworthy, clean, and tidy, turns up when he says he will, and has done all manner of jobs for me from small to major, all to a high standard. Grant initially came out to give us a second opinion on a particularly questionable quote and EICR we’d received following moving house, and was highly recommended by my brother-in-law. He was thorough - identifying problems which had previously been missed, while also disputing the need for a full rewire and so saving us tens of thousands of pounds. His work was high quality, his communication excellent, and his pricing transparent; he also left our house in great shape once finished. We’ve already brought him back for another job (new garage sockets) as we were so pleased with his work.
