Martin and his team completed a major project in my home which involved removing the old kitchen, knocking down internal walls to create an open-plan space, breaking up the existing floor, installing insulation, new electricals and plumbing and so on. Martin kept me fully informed about the progress of the work and also gave me helpful advice on the layout of the room. He and his team then installed a completely new fitted kitchen including all appliances, supplied by Howdens. The standard of their workmanship was faultless and some inevitable hitches which came up along the way were dealt with promptly and effectively. The project started on schedule and the team turned up reliably every day. The end result is a beautiful new kitchen that I'm very pleased with and I wouldn't hesitate to strongly recommend this company to anyone considering similar work.

We appointed Martin and his team at Direct Maintenance Contractors in April 2023 to undertake repairs to a summerhouse completed three years previously by another company who were a total nightmare. Work included replacing a substandard timber floor which was almost totally rotten and fixing the bifold doors which had been incorrectly installed and were letting water into the summerhouse. From the outset Martin instilled confidence and was clear in his diagnosis of the problem and the solution (unlike other contractors we sought quotes from). His quotation was not the cheapest but was far from being the most expensive. He and his men started work on time, undertook a very professional job and completed slightly ahead of schedule. They were all courteous, tidy and cleared up after themselves. We were very pleased with the end result and would not hesitate to use Direct Maintenance Contractors again or to recommend them to others.

Martin gave a detailed quote and his estimated start date was met. Each day they arrived on time and they kept us updated with progress. Any changes required were agreed and a detailed quote update was given. Martin supervised the job throughout and Tom and Michael were very helpful and pleasant. They returned promptly to investigate any snag. Payment was only required after completion of the work. It was worth the cost for a reliable job.

Martin and his team recently dealt with some difficult problems on my conservatory very quickly and effectively. The work was done to a high standard, and I was very satisfied. I will certainly contact him again for any further building work.

I have a large Victorian house and Direct Maintenance Contractors (DMC) removed my existing fascias, gutters and down pipes, replacing with new including boxing out to eaves and installing soffits. In addition, DCM painted existing external windows, french doors and porch and undertook some minor repair work to replace missing clay tiles. All work was undertaken to a very high standard, completed to programme and to agreed budgets. Any minor snagging issues were addressed immediately. Martin takes personal responsibility for delivering a high quality service and I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending DMC.

I was delighted by a kitchen installation done by Martin and Direct Maintenance Contractors using a design and units supplied by IKEA. This involved de facto project managing as I was in London - Martin and his team began work on the exact day he had promised, proved themselves trustworthy, reliable and hard-working, keeping me in the loop with what was happening as the job progressed and finishing only a day or two later than scheduled. The small space is completely transformed, the quality of workmanship very good. Prices charged were exactly as quoted - not cheap but good value for a quality job. If I have one quibble it would be the payment system. I would have been happy to put down a deposit though none was requested, but when I was sent an invoice half way through the job, payment was required immediately rather than within the usual 30 days. I would also have preferred to pay by credit card as Which? in fact recommends though I believe some of the protection gained by this is replicated by the Trusted Trader scheme. Overall though a big thank you to Martin and his guys for a great job, I'd be happy to work with them again and plan to.

This is the 3rd time Martin and his team have done work for us. The most recent work completed involved re-doing all the flooring in the house, removing a wall in the utility room (including plastering etc) and updating the locks/handles on all the doors and windows. The work completed was to a great standard and we are pleased with the end result. A huge thank you to Martin and his team for everything they did for us! The team is extremely friendly and approachable. The work was really well done and required coordination with the gas and electric men who also had to complete work in the house. Martin handled the end to end coordination and it was extremely smooth.

Direct Maintenance did an amazing job removing on old conservatory and replacing it with a lovely patio for us. When Martin visited to take details for the quote, we explained what we were after, he listened carefully and helped offer suggestions. The quote we received then outlined the work in great detail which we found really helpful. When the work was being carried out the team were very reliable and arrived punctually every morning. The team were very hardworking and worked at a good pace. Everyone in the team was friendly and approachable. Communication was excellent and very prompt. Martin and the team were open to listening to any concerns we had and were happy to adapt and be flexible to accommodate any changes we requested. We highly recommend using Direct Maintenance and have already put in a request to have more work done by them.

We used this building company to refurbish an old garage into a watertight workshop with power and light. Martin provided excellent service throughout and was very good at keeping us informed.

I chose this company because Martin took time to discuss my requirements on his visit & subsequent emails & his quotation was comparable with others & clear on what was & wasn't included in price (e.g. pre-oiling of worktop). Martin and his team of Tom & Mike arrived early each morning & set to work straight away. They were very approachable to discuss the work & didn't grumble about the very small work space & very uneven floor that made every measurement critical. Everything fitted perfectly. They were extremely accommodating, helpful & full of useful advice & guidance. It was great that the team always stopped to ask when there was any feature that required a cosmetic or practical choice, took notice of & remembered any requests & pointed out any issues or features (e.g. my choice of door handle location/size might touch/knock on opening). It's clear they take pride in their work & hold themselves to high work & customer standards. Martin visited every day to check the work, help out & discuss any issues (one being a cosmetic solution to a cabinet gap caused by an undersized fan). They happily accommodated specific requests that required extra thought, i.e. cabinets on one wall stepped out to provide pipework space & deeper worktop, cabinets on other side fitted to allow removal when access required, boxing in leaving space for future fridge-freezer etc. They even made an upstand I'd forgotten to buy from the worktop excess. Overall a reliable, trustworthy & skilled team.

Martin was prompt to respond to enquiries and gave us a reasonable estimate. He took time to discuss a number of possible causes of the leak in our roof and to allow for there being more or less work that might be needed. They did a very thorough investigation and managed to solve the problem. He was great at keeping us up to date with any delays and the work was completed very efficiently in spite of all the problems associated with Covid and atrocious winter weather. We would not hesitate to use the firm again.

This is the second time we have employed Martin. This time to complete a first story extension, rebuild the chimney and to strip and render the back of the house. All the work was completed to a high standard. Martin was always on hand to talk and give sound advice on any queries, and worked with us at all times. He is organised, professional and honest. Always advised on what to expect for the forthcoming week in terms of the progress of the build. Also he thinks of everything e.g. the extension build was during the summer. Martin asked the scaffolders to avoid the patio doors to enable us to continue to use them through the build. I would not have thought of this and it made a big difference. Martin and his team work hard, polite and considerate, and tidied up at the end of every day. Excellent value for money and he has a lovely dog too!

Martin is someone who identifies himself with the interests of his customers. My wife and I have been very fortunate in finding Martin to repair two of our roofs. Needless to say the work he did was on time and done with great care. We found Martin to be very co-operative with all our wishes. He is punctual, hard-working and we would recommend him.

Martin did a very good job in rebuilding and making safe a stone pier outside the front of our house. I am very pleased with the result. I have used Martin on a number of jobs during the last 18 months or so. I have found him to be approachable, friendly and reliable. His work is of a very high standard.

Martin and his team have done an amazing job with our renovation. After having problems with our previous builders, he had a big task on his hands, not just finishing a whole house renovation but also rectifying shoddy work from the previous builder. He provided us with a very detailed quote; due to our tight budget he sat down with us and discussed ways we could save money to get the job done without cutting corners. He was upfront with us about any additional costs as and when they arose. Where we were unsure about details regarding finishes, the advice given always turned out to be spot on. We will definitely be using him again for more work in the future. We cannot recommend him more highly.

Martin and his team completed a full bathroom renovation. Martin kept me updated throughout and was always open to any questions I had. The team worked efficiently and kept the place as clean as they could which was amazing. We were never in the house because of work being so busy but Martin was happy to communicate via text/emails and calls. We trusted them with our house and they were respectful. Martin helped clear the old bathroom out and dealt with it for us which was great as we weren't sure where to dispose of everything. Martin also did some work in our kitchen and came back to fix a leak that was taking place in the bathroom - he immediately fixed it with no issues. We had a leak from the bath plug, the waste pipe was leaking due to poor materials when installed. The plumber arrived quickly after arranging an appointment, kept good telephone communication as I was away at work, with options for a fix - one short term, minimal impact, and one longer-term but with work needed to gain access to the affected area (which was my expectation). We opted for the easiest fix, rather than pulling up skirting boards and tiles to gain access. Plumber provided good advice, my wife reported that he was nice and respectful.

Martin and his team constructed a new doorway; filled in a large gap from previous open plan; leveled the floor at the end of the room and other smaller jobs. Lastly the room was painted. The work was completed as agreed in the schedule and as per budget. At our initial meeting with Martin, he listened to what we wanted and gave us practical advice. He is always friendly, honest and professional. Whilst the work was being undertaken Martin was always on hand to review progress and responsive to discuss any changes or additions. Also he kept us informed of what was happening. He and his team worked very well together, cleaned up daily and generally kept the disruption to a minimum. Towards the end there was one minor job which took a few goes to resolve and thumbs up to Martin he saw it through until we were satisfied.

Came round quickly to evaluate the job. Quote arrived the next day which was very clear about the work to be done. He also phoned me to explain his recommendations. The price was fair and he committed to get the work done quickly. The team turned up promptly on the specified day. They were polite and performed the work to a high standard. I am pleased with the result and would recommend them highly.

Martin promptly gave us a quote that we considered fair. He and Mike patiently replaced the guttering with our particular extra specifications though the weather was against them. We are pleased the work is done and Martin has told us to let him know at once if anything goes wrong. We look forward to having his help with other projects and are happy to recommend him.

Dealing with Martin Crowley was efficient and straight. He called around promptly and presented a competitive quote and starting date. The old rendering was stripped and re plastering was carried out in stages having regards to weather conditions. The work was neat and everything was left in a very tidy condition. We felt confident dealing with this company, and we are completely satisfied with the work.

Martin arrived early for both the quote and to carry out the work so didn’t leave us wondering if these builders would actually arrive or not! Martin stated that the work - which was ripping out a built-in wardrobe, encasing a downpipe and plastering to match existing work, would take 2 days. The first thing they did was to cover bedroom furniture and then protect the flooring through to the hallway. Material was removed using 40 litre builders’ gorilla tubs. After removing the protective covers, the whole area was wiped down & vacuumed! (Yes I have the photos of the builders on their knees) At one time there were three builders on site and all respected our home, neighbours and the communal area carpets and lifts of the apartment block. We loved the final completed work – I will use this company again.

Martin was very helpful and friendly when he came to quote for the repair work needed, due to a water leak and a roofing problem. The work was carried out very quickly and to a high standard. Would definitely recommend.

Martin and his team were excellent. Communication was perfect as was the quality of the work and punctuality. He even came in on a Saturday morning to finish up the works after the Bath Store messed us about with deliveries. I would highly recommend Direct Maintenance Contractors.

We're very happy with the work Martin and his team completed. The quote was very reasonable, they were able to start promptly and the work they've completed is neat and tidy. They've taken down an old brick wall and replaced it with a fence and repointed a stone wall, all to a very high standard. We were impressed with the care and attention to detail they applied, and also the way the engaged with our elderly neighbours to make sure they were happy with the work as it was being undertaken. Would be very happy to use them again.
