Stephen McMullin attended our property on 11/11/19 where he gave an excellent service. He arrived early which helped me. He carried out the work to a high standard explaining what he was doing as he had to change the job slightly. He left everywhere tidy cleaning up and removing all the rubbish. I would be happy to recommend him and Peter Cox to my friends and family.

I called Peter Cox for a survey for damp in the living and dining rooms in a new house purchase. Tony Bolton came to complete the survey and was great, he was very reassuring as I was a very panicked first time buyer. He checked everywhere thoroughly and looked into things beyond the requested damp survey. There were a few extra surprises where a bounce in the floor downstairs meant new joists and woodworm treatment were required. Tony and Imogen, from the contracts team, took time to explain the work and booking process. Everyone who came to do work on the house was brilliant. They were all on time and kept the house clean and tidy. Stephen did a great job on the damp proofing, and Andy did a perfect job on plastering. Mark and Jamie were great for repairing the flooring and completing the woodworm treatment. Additional thanks to Jamie who came back to check on a few extra floorboards that I was concerned about. The work took a little longer than planned due to it being a bit more challenging than expected, however I was kept up to date on this at all times and everything was explained clearly throughout. There was an issue with a leaking radiator and a gas pipe being caught, however these were both fixed quickly with follow up to ensure I was happy with the work. Everything was kept to the original quote which was great. The aftercare has been great, with my follow up questions being answered. I can’t thank the team enough for their great work and support.

Please do not use this service. It is more expensive than the market average and it is not worth the price. I wish now that I had read the reviews left by other customers before paying for their service Whole host of issues: 1. Unable to get through to office via phone 2. Workers arrived late on both days meaning I was late for work 3. Complete lack of communication between office and contractors. Contractors waiting for keys at estate agents when I was in house 4. No communication from Peter Cox to advise that they would be late. I also never received confirmation of deposit or that they were to do the work 5. Contractors left my house extremely dirty with rubbish left on the floor. They have broken items in my kitchen with no apology 6. The contractors did not leave my keys at my house on exit but held on to them for a week. I now have to change my locks 7. I was offered compensation which I did not find satisfactory and I have had to continually chase this with the company. They have lied about where my keys are and about receiving voicemails from me. I now have the compensation I feel to be fair but at the expense of my time. I am so unhappy with the stressful and unprofessional service I would like to rate below 1 star but this isn't an option.

Devastated by Peter Cox work

Peter Cox was appointed to fit airbricks and a new damp proof course to my home. Once the job got started it looked as if the worker was doing this for the first time and in a hurry. I was shocked to see how the air bricks had actually been fitted. The following day my front living room was flooded in 3 to 4 inches of water. The outcome of the work made me extremely anxious and I will have to spend more money to fix the problem. It is the worst piece of workmanship I have ever come across and I would strongly advise against using Peter Cox.

pre-purchase house survey is not a proper job

I placed an order with them to survey a house I planned to purchase. They charge about £100 and ask for the payment on the day of the survey before you get the report. I assumed that my instructions to crawl under the floor and climb into a roof void to examine timbers would be carried out. I made a special effort to ensure access to these areas was available. Before I placed the order I discussed these "voids" and if their surveyor would go into these areas. At no point did their representative mention the "health and safety" restrictions they impose. On day of survey all I got was a cursory look through each access door with a torch and timber damp readings of the timber around opening. I was told later they do not access areas where they have to crawl and do not carry walk planks to step across joists. Well thanks for that after you get your £100. Adding to insult when I got the report the rotten rafter and damp purlin was not reported. (i found that when I took to the trouble bring my own walk plank to examine the roof timbers). They are good at putting the fear of god into you when a tantalised joists measures 19% moisture content on a humid day. (my woodwork class at school taught me 20% is safe. They are also good at selling injection damp proof "courses" and installing new air vents because their magic meters when red when sampling walls. They amended their report to include my findings free of charge; that was good of them. I should have used an independent surveyor.

My elderly Mother (86) recently had to have some major repairs to her home due to dry rot. This was a major trauma for her, however, the repairs carried out were done very professionally, the workman were very caring and courteous and was done like clockwork. Highly recommended.

I used this company to conduct some work to correct several isolated damp patches in my basement. They always turned up punctually and conducted a very thorough analysis of the problem before providing estimate. Also, they cleaned up well after themselves They have branches all over the UK
