The company repaired and covered 3 1940/50's dining room chairs. They were helpful in the extreme; fully respecting the date the chairs were made and using appropriate materials to repair them. Decisions were made in complete consultation with me. I was impressed with the cost which I considered more than reasonable and the time taken to complete the task was beyond expectation. The work was exemplary. It was completed by an expert craftswoman. The chairs matched the old ones exactly just as requested. I cannot praise the work or the care the company took with the task enough. I would certainly use this trader again.

Martin reupholstered two sofas for me. He responded quickly to my initial enquiry and was able to provide an immediate quote for the actual work in response to the information I gave him regarding the sofas (size, etc). We went to meet him at his workshop on a Saturday morning to look at fabric samples. We were also able to see samples of the work he has done and was currently doing. He ordered two fabric samples from the fabric suppliers, to be sent to us, and when these did not arrive to our home as requested he followed this up promptly. They soon arrived. Once we had selected a fabric, he then provided us with a quote including cost of fabric. He was very flexible about when the work would be done as we were going to be away for a while. He arranged for collection of the sofas just before we went away, and they were ready for delivery back to us on our return. The work done was of a very high standard and exactly as we wanted. The sofas look and feel fine and give very good support. In summary, Martin communicated well and promptly with us and listened to our requirements. He kept to the agreed timescale and to the budget/quote. The standard of work was excellent. I would definitely use Martin for any future work and recommend him to others.

Martin recovered our upholstered easy chair, two antique side chairs and two fitted seats to antique chairs. He was very helpful and easy to deal with. He asked questions if anything was not completely clear. He did a very good job and we are planning to get some further work once we have chosen fabrics.

Martin reupholstered a sofa and a footstool and replaced the seat and back padding on eight dining room chairs. He responded quickly to my initial enquiry, provided a very reasonable quote for the work and did a great job in the time frame I required. I would definitely use him again

Martin Porter reupholstered two sets of chairs for me, a slightly unstable antique pair and another pair which had been shockingly badly restored. In both cases, this was the best work I have ever had done: in terms of quality, aesthetic sensibility and attention to detail. They look, and feel, marvelous. I should add that his quotation for the job was highly competitive, that the additional charges when he discovered just how bad things were with the second pair were reasonable, and that his delivery time was far shorter than any of the rival quotes I had requested. Could not recommend Porterhouse Design more highly - and I have considerable experience.
