Having contacted Serviceteam on Monday for an initial quote, I'd expected a quick response as their website had indicated. I'd wanted some small jobs doing before the end of next week, ahead of a new sofa being delivered. I chased for an update on Weds, to learn that the "...estimating department is still reviewing the information provided...". Only on Thursday morning did I learn that my request "...was handled by a trainee and he has forgotten to check the postcode, I'm afraid we don't cover your area for this type of works at the moment..." To be fair, only a couple of days had elapsed and everyone can make a mistake, but given my deadline, every day counts! It's disappointing that (1) this could have been avoided as their website currently guides you to enter your postcode before anything else, but doesn't advise which postcodes are serviced, (2) that the trainee wasn't properly supervised when dealing directly with customers, and (3) that a Which? Trusted Trader is willing to publicly assign blame to it's trainees. Serviceteam - please fix your website to clearly show what areas are covered and please stop blaming your trainees when the responsibility and accountability is yours.

I use service team landlord service and the account management tool is big stress reliefer as all emails are responded promptly and work undertaken as quickly as possible. Service team came to repair a leaking cylinder & recommended a replacement. The replacement they recommended and fitted was not suitable so the installer has now invalidated the warranty on the cylinder. We can also only get a max of 15mins hot water at a time max. Apparently, this is not their fault as they didn’t think that as professionals they should be checking out whether the existing plumbing was right for the cylinder. They have refused to take any liability. Refused any refund (only a tiny discount on a further huge bill to fit a different solution). We are over £1k out of pocket and having to find another installer who is capable of making a professional recommendation to fix it that does not include knocking through our kitchen wall. They did return to the property twice without charge but that was because no hot water was being generated at all and needed replacement parts (sent for free from the cylinder manufacturer despite the invalidated warranty). Do not recommend at all

Hello – We aim to give you the best experience with Serviceteam, and so are disappointed that you don’t feel this is what you have received. The installation involved a simple cylinder swap — with your property intact. This means that we had worked with the existing plumbing — for which we are not liable and had no reason to doubt, it had also served the previous cylinder well without issue. Contrary to our (or your) expectations, the manufacturers did not cover the cylinder under their warranty due to the (untouched) existing pipework (of which we have not altered; we swapped the old cylinder with the new). Therefore this exempts us from liability. Our sound "tried, tested & perfected" protocols followed G3 regulations and had not indicated to our engineer that the existing pipework would be a contradictive reason to void the cylinder's warranty; hence we suggest you talk to the pipework installers or the cylinder manufacturers. As, proof of your tenant's boiler misuse (temperature) — causing a user error — has been available to us, we are not in a position to look past this. In the event the cylinder manufacturer or original pipework installer cannot repair/alter these shortcomings in (their) boiler/pipework, we would be happy to complete the required works for you and have already provided you with a quotation to do so and a discount off of this quotation as a gesture of goodwill. — Best, Serviceteam

I found this trader on the Which Trusted trader Website and thought they would be reliable and helpful when completing works as they are part of the Trusted Trader scheme. In addition to that they also had some good reviews. Their communication turnaround time was pretty good but unfortunately they attended a vacant property with the keys from the estate agent - they couldn't gain access to the property as they had been given the wrong key. Not their fault up until this point. They took measurements from the outside but were of course unable to provide an accurate quote as they were unable to complete the quote from the inside. They did not contact the estate agent to ask them to bring the correct key over because "we do not have the time to call the agents and then have to wait around for an agent to bring over another set of keys". I found this showed a very disinterested attitude towards trying to resolve a problem, especially given that the estate agent is less than 1.5 miles away and it would have taken them 10 minutes for them to drive up to the address. I then asked if the trader could reattend to provide a quote from the inside of the property, but only if I pay another £110 for their attendance. They refused to refund me for the first failed attendance. I found this to be the type of service you would get from a disreputable trader rather than a which trusted trader - All for the sake of not being willing to make a quick phone call to the estate agent. I would suggest avoiding this trader and taking your business elsewhere.

Your review is very important to us. We’re disappointed that you are not 100% satisfied with the service we have provided which has been an unfortunate circumstance for all. As we have tried to explain, the inability to gain access to your property was unforeseen and outside of our control. In order to service you, we do request access to the property. Despite being provided with the wrong keys, we duly continued with our survey, the best we could (without access to the property). And thus have been able to provide you with the proposal we were initially attending to assess – albeit with a couple of caveats subject to being able to access the property and check a couple of elements. At the point of the visit we were unaware the agents had the correct set of keys, indeed they had already provided us with the wrong set! And having spent the better part of the allotted hour our tradesperson had to stick to his approaching appointments. “Travelling back and forth (to gain access to the property)” with no guarantee access could be provided, increasing the time on site (and potential costs) when we had already achieved what we had set out too was not (in our view) the logical thing to do, nevertheless we lacked the power to engage in it because if we did so, we would have been late for (and potentially missed) all upcoming appointments. We regret the circumstance and should you wish to proceed with the quoted work, we would arrange a free of charge site survey

Second time I have used Serviceteam for an annual gas boiler service. Engineer arrived on time, carried out an efficient check of boiler, compression tank, gas meter and radiators. A cheerful and knowledgable engineer who I am confident did a great job!

I’ve now used Serviceteam a number of times and I’m very happy with their work and their organisation. I’ve struggled to find good electricians/plumbers etc and been horrified at the prices some charge. Serviceteam are good at their jobs, the office works very well and their rates are reasonable. Highly recommended!
