Cleanliness & consideration: Excellent- cleared the rooms daily Schedule: Excellent adjusting when there was team illness Materials ordering: Good- minor delays caused due to floor panels not being available on site Addressing unanticipated issues: Excellent A rafter damaged by woodworm was partially replaced and treatment applied. Replacement joists installed due to original undersized and under supported joists. Flexibility: Excellent- willing to reduce scope due to cost of unanticipated issues Quality: Good with only minor snags (not mentioned to the team so addressed by client). The decorator commented on the excellent plastering. Snags- window boards not firmly affixed. Radiator on one wall to be plastered was removed but not the fixing brackets. Corners knocked off new floor panels and filled with expandable foam in numerous places. Several shims left protruding under new skirtings. Panel to replace plasterboard removed to assess stair integrity screwed but no filling around edges. Hardboard around edges to level off floors not applied in except in room thresholds. Communication: OK- responses to WhatsApp appeared to be primarily for billing purposes. Presence on site definitely needed. Options on finishing the window recesses where insulated plasterboards applied to 2 external walls were unclear causing less than optimal sequencing and quality of finish. Agreements on window sill heels and skirtings in nooks not passed onto the team doing the work.

I am the Head of Estates and Facilities for SSAFA the Armed Forces Charity. We have 4 Bungalows that SH Carpentry and Construction Ltd have been looking after for maintenance and emergency call outs for several years. Charlotte and Shane are always contactable and react to any situation or emergency with speed, providing me with sensible and cost effective solutions to problems. I contacted SH carpentry and construction as they are local and our neighbours had used their services before so they were highly recommended. Shane attended our property and gave us his professional recommendations on how to do the rebuild work. He was very meticulous and answered all our questions. The booking process was very easy and Shane arranged for his team members to meet us before the work started . His team, whilst on site was very polite and professional, they provided us with regular updates. The work carried out was to the highest standard and they left our property very tidy. Can’t thank Shane, Olly and Chris for their efforts, I would highly recommend their services for building and construction.

We needed a new wardrobe, meter cupboard, 2 windows replaced and damp investigated. As it is a period property nothing was straight forward, however we found Shane, Olly, Charlotte and the team to be knowledgeable, professional and approachable, happy to talk things through and offer options. As work progressed it morphed into extra work on the roof and chimney, outside repair and decoration, replacement of some drains and a patio, and adding a new soakaway. All the work has been done to specification and to a high standard, the team were always positive, helpful, easy to talk to and trustworthy. Would definitely recommend and would use again.

We can unhesitatingly recommend SH Construction for the quality of both their work and their communication. Shane and Charlotte have coped with changes of specification and the need for us to liaise with our party wall owners and two sets of tenants. The work was to rebuild the party wall in the attic, improving support for our roof, and Shane’s careful approach gave us confidence that the job would be well done. Olly and his team coped with lack of access to the neighbouring house and left all clean and tidy. The Building Control inspector’s verdict was “they’ve made a lovely job of that”.

Shane's team undertook work to replace our asbestos garage roof with a new flat roof, and garage rebuild to include raised height to accommodate a roller door, new windows and parapets. Shane was a great help throughout the process, including initially spending valuable time with us to discuss the proposals, and responding quickly to any queries and requests throughout the process. Together, we made sure that the design would help facilitate a possible conversion to living accommodation in future and dining room extension at the rear of our house, thereby providing future proofing . Olly and the team on site did a brilliant job with the build, taking great care and attention at every stage and were always keen to explain their approach and fully take on board our wishes. We were very pleased with the materials sourced and the finished result exceeded our expectations in terms of craftsmanship and being in keeping with the character of our 1950s detached house.

We had a side door put in our garage’ which was excellent. The workmen were very tidy while working and very polite. They wanted to please us and answered any questions we asked when the job was complete they left the area clean and took away all rubbish. You would not have known they had been there working. Shane and his team worked on 2 structural openings, and installation of a new kitchen and utility room floor for us over a period of 5 weeks...this also included hanging of new doors, associated carpentry around thresholds, laying of engineered floor around one new opening, and removal of an aga and fake brick chimney hearth. We had met Shane earlier in the year after moving into the property due to initial larger requirements. We found Shane knowledgeable, approachable and honest in our discussions. As my work is in interior design and architecture, working with a team who can deliver, are trustworthy and have a good eye for detail is really important. Shane and team certainly managed this. There were numerous times when we were not present at the property due to our work commitments, and they were respectful and careful to lock up, even permitting our cats to wander in and out....therefore a high degree of trustworthiness is part of what you receive. With Olly local to us, this helped them crack on from 7:30am. They were able to take in additional work to our scope also. In terms of costs, SH Carpentry and Construction werent the cheapest supplier we had quotes from, but we're glad to have worked with the team, and feel they were very able to deliver on all aspects of the job.

Shane and his team constructed the framework of a new extension for us in 2020. The project was completed according to the agreed schedule and budget. The fact that I am writing this two years later is a testament to the high quality of their work. Shane maintained clear communication throughout the process, regularly consulting with me on crucial decisions, which I greatly appreciated. Moreover, Shane and his entire team were consistently polite and easy to communicate with. I would also like to acknowledge Charlotte for her valuable assistance.

Excellent service from start to finish. Shane and Charlotte always responded quickly to questions and were always positive, proactive and helpful. The work was undertaken through summer 2021 when covid and delivery issues made life unpredictable, but these obstacles were managed professionally and with great flexibility, working around other constraints. The work was completed to a high standard and on time. Highly professional and highly recommended.

Charlotte, Shane and team completed a full renovation of our 1970’s style apartment, bringing it back to the 21st century! I am based in Sweden, the apartment is in Oxford/UK, and I chose to work with S&H because they offered a ‘full service’ including full project management, sourcing of all materials/goods and co-ordination of the various experts carrying out the work. In short - complete peace of mind which is exactly what they provided. Charlotte who was my main day to day contact was exceptional, extremely professional and provided great peace of mind. S&H installed a soakaway in our back garden and covered it with a new circular patio, for which we sourced the slabs from Minster paving. We saw S&H working nearby and the work looked good and the working team was cheerful. They came round quickly to give a quote. It was a bit expensive compared to another, but we went with it as we thought they would be good. We were not disappointed, the two builders worked well and delivered a really good result. They had to lift part of an old patio and replace it, and also replace some old brickwork, which was all planned as part of the job. The team and their manager stayed in contact whenever needed, and the bill was exactly what we expected.

Charlotte and Shane and the team were able to do an amazing job renovating our home. They stripped back the walls and totally redecorated to a high standard and I would have no problems recommending them and using them in the future. Thank you so much for completing a great job.

SH have done some remedial repairs to my property following the insertion of a new chemical DPC. Although a small project, SH carried out the work diligently and professionally. The team were friendly and helpful and kept disruption to a minimum. The quality of the work is first class and left having carried out thorough clean.

SR Construction worked on our property to convert half of our garage to the utility room. They have done a truly amazing job. Just from the first day, they were leaving the construction area tidy and nice and the final finish was exactly what we asked for. Thank you for your hard work! While decorating my living room a damp problem was uncovered which had resulted in a large section of the timber floor rotting. Shane responded quickly, had a quote for repairs with me the very next morning, and work started soon after. Throughout the work Shane and all the team were fantastic to deal with. I was really impressed with their reliability, workmanship and willingness to go the extra mile. The entire floor was replaced, an old fireplace stripped out, new lintel fitted and walls re-rendered. As the work progressed it became apparent the damp was more extensive than initially thought and had spread to the adjacent room. Shane and Charlotte were excellent in communicating this information. They kept me updated by email and phone calls and discussed options and costs openly. At no point did I feel railroaded into making a decision. On top of the damp repairs Shane also organised an electrician to update the wiring, for repairs to the main roof/chimney, and took on converting a dilapidated flat bay window to a pitched slated roof which is now a smart feature of the house. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend SH Carpentry & Construction!

Shane and his colleague Craig were both very polite, professional and friendly whilst also doing a great job. I felt very comfortable with them carrying out work on the front of our house as it was clear that they are both very competent and knowledgeable in carpentry. I would definitely use them again for any carpentry jobs. Possibly not the cheapest but price reflected the quality. If you want someone to do a professional carpentry job then this is a good company to use.

I found this company through Which? Trusted Traders and have had them replace a dormer window that had fallen out and also repair a leaky roof. Shane and his team have been brilliant and we are really pleased with the work. It’s very difficult to find a builder/carpenter who is reliable but Shane has been. Pleasant, helpful, courteous and the standard of work is exceptional. I would highly recommend them to people and I am asking them to quote for further work that we need doing.

Shane and his team were renovating a big back room and adding an extension. The back room had three slightly different floors, having initially been two rooms that had had an existing extension, so they had to dig up the whole thing and lay a concrete floor that would align with the hallway corridor. They had to do this while building a further extension in bad weather, during the lockdown, and under time pressure so that parquet floor could be laid by specialists. And it was done perfectly! The job had endless details - a new kitchen, painting, replumbing, rewiring, a new garden wall, a new patio, some change of design as we went along, and SH Carpentry & Construction were always patient, attentive and accommodating; when things went wrong or we changed our minds, they sorted it out straightaway. And the result is really lovely. We've got a big family room that looks fabulous and is much warmer than it used to be. We love being in it. Thanks Shane, Charlotte, Pete, and the gang!

Shane was recommended to us for our hallway renovation by Daniel Rokins, who was building a bespoke walnut staircase to suit our 300-year-old farmhouse. We were absolutely delighted with Shane and his entire team. The project ended up expanding exponentially due to rotting floorboards, overlying rotting joists, due to lack of ventilation bricks, and requiring rerouting of plumbing and gas pipework, all of which were addressed calmly, competently, and with endless patience and good humour from Shane and his team. The new staircase required unique structural work, also designed and constructed by Daniel, Shane and team. The wooden flooring was laid beautifully with artisan finishes and details worthy of the true craftsmen they are. The carpentry by Craig, James, and Shane, has been absolutely top quality throughout the job, including sympathetic door renovations and cabinet-making. The plasterwork was outstanding, unlike anything we have ever seen, and the painting and decorating have also been unequalled in quality. We are extremely pleased with the outcome of the job, and can't recommend Shane, Charlotte and the entire SHC&C team highly enough!

We are a national charity based in London and have a number of bungalows on one site used by our beneficiaries in Oxfordshire. We have used Shane and Charlotte for a number of years to manage the site maintenance. Charlotte provides an outstanding management service and with the residents, is caring and understanding of their individual situations when considering the works required. She reacts appropriately in emergency situations and I have full trust in her. Shane and the team always carry out the works required to a very high standard and have never let me down. Shane and Barry did a great job of boarding out our loft. They were friendly, professional and fast. They even fitted the loft. ladder as an added bonus and hoovered up. We have a busy home with kids, dog etc. My Daughter even shot them with Nerf guns while they passed through the house, so highly recommend them as "family-friendly". Cannot recommend enough!

We met Shane and his team by happy accident but would not hesitate in recommending him. Luckily for us a replacement window fitter who was measuring up for replacement windows for the cottage came when torrential rain had flooded the rear porch causing quite a lot of damage, recommended him as a good and reliable workman. Shane arrived the following day, assessed the situation, was very helpful and stepped in at short notice to help us resolve the immediate problem. Following on from mending and reroofing the porch. it was discovered that all the windows of both cottages did not have any lintels on the outer walls. Shane and his team agreed to stay on and worked for three weeks replacing missing outer lintels on the two adjoining cottages windows which we let to tenants. They were very punctual and polite, tidy, professional. Shane kept us appraised of the costings, gave us regular progress reports. good job all round.
