Electrical contractor M J Wallace Limited impressed our judges with its glowing reviews and high standards of customer service.
Mike Wallace, owner of the Wolverhampton-based firm, said: ‘What makes us stand out from the rest is that we do the little things right.
‘I get compliments on that side of my business – that I do things properly. Even a detailed written quote for the project really helps customers.’

‘Extremely grateful’ customers
The company’s most recent review is from a family with two young children, who had originally hired a different electrician after M J Wallace had quoted for the job.
But the customer said they were then ‘let down’ by the other contractor the day the project was meant to be completed, leaving the work unfinished with ‘faulty electrics’.
The family contacted Mike and his team, who corrected the problems and finished the project so the family could move back home, leaving them ‘extremely grateful’ for the team’s help.
Mike said he was glad the family came back to him and gave him the chance to rescue the project. ‘I enjoy helping people – I get real pleasure out of doing it,’ he told us.

‘Quality endorsement’
The company joined Which? Trusted Traders in 2016, about a year after M J Wallace became a limited company.
Mike said: ‘I was looking for a quality endorsement that vetted the people who joined. I wanted something that could give a true representation of the values of my business.’
The company will now be able to use the Trader of the Month logo alongside the standard endorsement logo for the next year.
‘It’s fantastic to win,’ Mike told us. ‘It came as quite a shock as it’s the first time I’ve entered, but it made my day.’
