Wow Energy received the 2026 Which? Trusted Trader Renewables Installer of the Year award, ahead of several other excellent award nominees.

Wow Energy are renewable energy experts based in Macclesfield, Cheshire. The company supplies and installs renewable energy systems such as solar panels, battery storage systems, wind turbines, EV chargers and solar hot water systems.

The Which? Awards recognise companies in 13 categories that offer outstanding products, great customer service and value for money, from retailers to banks and car manufacturers.

Now in their 20th year, the awards were held at the Science Museum in London on 14 May 2026.

High emotions at the Which? Awards

The Renewables Installer of the Year award, launched last year, focuses specifically on Which? Trusted Traders that provide green energy solutions for homes and businesses. It recognises installers who are providing customers with the knowledge and services to help them create a more energy-efficient home, often by retrofitting their homes with low-carbon energy solutions.  

Sustain Heating and Renewables, ACD Electrical Green-Tech and Fusion Renewables were also shortlisted for the award.

A recent review from a happy customer said: ‘Wow Energy surveyed and installed our solar panel and battery array recently. At all times the service was excellent and can be thoroughly recommended. Simon the boss was around for all key operations during the installation and handover with a full explanation of what to expect. The fitting team and electricians working for him were also very thorough and tidy in their work.’

Thoughts from the judges 

The judging panel said: ‘Wow Energy wins for directly tackling industry confusion and system under-performance by implementing a consultation model tailored strictly to a home's actual energy usage, rather than maximum capacity. Its commitment to ongoing consumer care is evidenced by a mandatory, complimentary energy optimisation session post-installation to help households maximise their long-term savings.
