Joining happy band of customers! Nine years ago, Robert and Simon installed wood burning stove in our period property. The chimney had to be expertly angled, due proximity of walls/roofs etc., which was managed with great precision. Robert has kept our stove in good working order and swept our chimney bi-annually, since then. He is a fund of knowledge and interest and a delight to converse with. We recommend him 110 per cent!

Robert is clearly an expert in his field. Very knowledgeable and always takes the time to explain his craft, ensure your fireplace is safe and all done with a smile and a conversation. Needed a Chimney cleaned, the first time in 15 years. The guy turned up, on time and was friendly. The job itself was done quick, clean and with no fuss. Quite a lot of dirt was removed, so really happy I had the work done. He also offered some good advice after the cleaning.

Our chimney ventilator cover was blown off during the recent storm. The chimney had no fireplace or breast inside the rooms of the house, just a supported stack in the loft. We were worried about the rain running down the inside of the chimney and soaking into the ceilings and affecting the electrics. We were given the number of Chim-Me-Sweep, Chim-Me-Build and spoke to the owner, Rob Wallace. He was very busy with calls due to all the storm damage, but somehow he found a way to fit us in on the same day. He had already asked for photos of the chimney stack so he knew that access to the stack was readily and safely available. He also explained that the old, damaged vent cover was not appropriate to keep the rain out. What was needed was a chimney cap. When he arrived, he set up his ground to roof ladder and secured it. Then he carried his roof ladder with roof hook to safely attach it to the roof spine. He warned me beforehand that if there was no pot at the top of the stack then capping it could be problematic. As soon as he reached the top he affirmed there was a pot and he immediately capped it. Job done!! Throughout the process Rob was friendly, professional and kept me up-to-date on when and if he was able to come, which put my mind at rest. His work at our house was very efficient. Honesty, efficiency, great communication and very friendly. Thanks, Rob.

After our chimney was damaged by our neighbours building work we got in touch with Rob at Chim-me-sweep. Right from the first visit, it was clear he was very experienced and we were in safe hands. It took several months and several visits to sort out all the issues (despite covid) but Rob helped us every step of the way with helpful advice and a can do attitude throughout. Any quote he gave was always provisional depending on what he would find, and he always charged less if the issue was more straightforward. Rob initially checked our roof, undertook a breach test to see if the mortar had been damaged, inspected the roof, cleaned the flues and safely closed the chimney down. He removed the now defunct fire surround, cleared out the debris and fitted a liner. He then recommended a wood stove manufacturer and even a stove that would fit perfectly. He measured the hearths and informed us of the size and current regulations so we could order from our chosen manufacturer with confidence. He fitted the hearths and a week later returned to fit the stove and mantlepiece he had also given us great advice on. Rob does not need to advertise because word of mouth and repeat business from satisfied customers is all the marketing he needs. From now on we will always call Rob for annual maintenance or if a problem occurs, as we know he will do a brilliant job, and be a really friendly guy in the process, going out of his way to help. We recommend him highly.

I have a large, cast-iron gas stove in my lounge that gets used about 20 times a year at maximum, so I assumed that my chimney would rarely need sweeping. For this reason it hadn't been done for 25 years and I began to feel it would be sensible to have it done again. I contacted several sweeps for prices and Mr Wallace's was the lowest - and he sounded the most authoritative. Unfortunately, he had to advise that, because of changed regulations, my stove would first have to be disconnected by a qualified Gas-Safe engineer and reconnected after the chimney was swept. (This was a service he could no longer offer because his qualification had lapsed because he did not work in the gas industry.) In order to use him I had to find a suitable gas engineer - which was a bit of a struggle - but I finally managed it. However, the engineer's price was nearly twice that of Mr Wallace and for a small fraction of the work. I arranged for the stove to be disconnected and for Mr Wallace to visit on the following day. He turned up 15 minutes early (Covid-masked) and got straight down to work, taking great care not to scratch the tiling when moving the stove. The lower chimney was swept quickly and he also opened up an exterior flue panel and swept the upper part of the chimney. All debris was removed without any escape of soot or dirt. He also advised how I should inspect the chimney - to see if I actually needed to call a sweep out. Sadly, I may not need to use him again!

Robert was very friendly, carried out the work quickly and gave us great advice for the next stage of our project. He gave us a best/worst case ranged quote and the final invoice was at the lower end of the scale. He came across as very hard working and honest.

Rob swept both my chimneys and changed the rope on my wood burning stoves that had perished. He also advised me on the best placement for my carbon monoxide alarms. He was on time, dressed in PPE and was very professional. The stoves and hearths were spotless when he left. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him and will definitely use him again.

After noting that we had barely used our old log burner for several years, we made the decision to decommission our stove, and equally the associated Chimney. After speaking with Robert on the phone, he promptly made time for a site visit; and alongside understanding our desire to decommission our stove, it was equally reassuring to draw upon his in-depth knowledge and experience - especially after Robert noted several additional issues with our existing stove and chimney set up. As such, not only did Robert kindly provide both advice and guidance on how we could remove the stove and fireplace on our own (should we wish to save some money - which we did), Robert returned at a later date to complete some remedial work to the chimney stack, cap the chimney and equally give it one last sweep as part of the overall decommissioning. In summary, we found Robert to be punctual, friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and perhaps above all, professional. Consequently, we would highly recommend his services to any and all.
