We would like to introduce you to Dee Cee Upholstery and Interior’s World of Comfort.
Established in 1978, we are one of the South’s leading experts in Upholstery and Rise and Recline Mobility Chairs.
Partner in Dee Cee Upholstery, Derek Caplen, became the youngest master Upholsterer in the UK at the tender age of 21, and by the age of 43 he had become the youngest Fellow of the Association of Master Upholsterers for his outstanding contribution in training young people, and dedication to the A.M.U. and Soft Furnishers.
As suppliers of award winning, quality Rise and Recline Mobility Chairs, we are acknowledged experts, recommended by occupational therapists, physiotherapists and healthcare professionals, and are approved specialist suppliers to local councils and the NHS.

My dog chewed a very visible part of our 4 year old sofa. We emailed to ask if just that piece could be reupholstered. Communication was quick and helpful. I had to order the matching material from Next and it was 8 weeks for delivery. Once I had it , I emailed and they collected my sofa within a week and it was returned within the following week. Fabulous. You cannot tell. Friendly respectful helpful.

The front bottom border of the sofa was damaged by their dog who had chewed it . We recovered part of the sofa when our customer supplied us with matching fabric , when the job was completed our customer was highly delighted that it is now in perfect condition and was glad that we had been recommended to her.

They reupholstered 2 ancient armchairs which were much loved by my late husband. From the first visit to the final delivery, nothing was too much trouble. The ‘new’ chairs are outstanding and will certainly last and be admired for many years to come. It is quite rare to come across this high level of skill and professionalism and well worth the money spent. I would never use anyone else and would recommend them to anyone looking for high quality restoration.

We recovered these 2 arm chairs over 20 years ago and way back then our customer was highly delighted just as she is now. When the chairs were stripped out in our workshop they were in a very worn state and in need of re-upholstering as opposed to just recovering . The "as new " chairs should last for the next 20 years . This excellent review outlines everything that we strive for with all types of upholstery that passes through our highly skilled master upholsterers. We bought a very comfortable fireside chair secondhand which was showing its age. We took the chair in for an estimate and Mr Caplen was very helpful suggesting what type of material would suit the chair. The work was completed in about 3 weeks and we are extremely pleased with the finished results. Well worth the money!

Thank you for your 5 star review, we are delighted that you were impressed with the professional service that we provided, when we stripped out your six showood dining chairs (both seats and backs) to the bare frame and re-upholstered them in a traditional flatweave fabric, the edges were finished off with a twin piping in the same fabric. Our reputation as master upholsterers who specialize in top quality traditional re-upholstery goes far and wide ( our showroom and onsite workshops are based in Portswood Southampton and Ruth came to us all the way from Malmesbury in Wiltshire. The two seater button back Edwardian sofa was stripped out to the bare frame and was completely re-upholstered in an antique gold linen style flatweave fabric .We then replaced the coil seat springs and covered both seat and back in calico lining ready for the fabric to be applied. To add the finishing touch and make the job complete we cleaned and waxed the turned showood oak legs which enhanced the patina of the wood . Once again job completed on time to a very high quality thank you for your review and business

The two traditional style wing chairs were not just recovered , the original fabric was removed and the upholstery was then stripped out as required and re-upholstered including supplying replacement fire retardant seat cushion interiors wrapped in polyester wadding and stockinet lining. It was very pleasing to find our service was superb and that they would recommend us to anyone

I was really pleased with the friendly and reliable service Derek at Dee Cee Upholstery provided. The finished outcome, a window seat cushion cover, was better than I could have hoped for! My only slight niggle is that, days after I thought the job had been started, I had to confirm a third time that I wanted the work to be done. This meant that I had to wait a bit longer but it was well worth the wait!

The window seat was custom made by our customers carpenter . The fabric used was a chenille selected from our end of rolls in our remnant room at ( ( at half the normal retail price ) . We upholstered the base using 3 " medium density fire retardant foam covered with an interliner of 4 0z polyester . We then trimmed the top edge with piping in the same fabric and delivered the window seat free of charge, as our customer stated it was worth the wait.

The two arm chairs were not just recovered they were stripped down to the bare frame and were completely re-upholstered to to comply with the latest fire retardant fire regulations . It is nice to receive comments that our service was great and the chairs are like new when we delivered them . ( this is everything we strive for , to have another satisfied customer. )

We supplied fire retardant upholstery foam ,our customer also bought fabric from our remnant room which cost half price or less . I explained how to apply spray adhesive and the best way to fix the fabric for his D.I.Y project .

Jill chose a Sanderson linen union fabric to re-upholster and recover her good quality sofa bed . We stripped the sofa bed to the bare frame and used the latest fire retardant high density foam , the seat cushion interiors were replaced with a medium density foam which was wrapped in polyester wadding and covered in a stockinet lining .

Derek and his team did a great job repairing a small sofa that my kids managed to damage. Everything from the communications, collection, repair and delivery was perfect. Thanks for your review , once again only a small job the back leg of a small love seat was broken and has come away from the frame . Whilst the job was in our workshop we also strengthened the other back leg to make sure it would not need repairing in the the future

I am so glad I found Dee Cee Upholstery, by asking on a village FB group if anyone knew of a good upholsterer. The service and kind reception when I came to visit was such a positive experience! It was only a small job; to dress buttons and fasten down on an old foot stool, and the job was done beautifully, swiftly and with great experience and care. Our customer who had recovered a stool herself ,but could not fit the buttons. We made up the buttons in her own fabric and fitted them to her stool top . We even made sure that the pattern on each one was different

There was no pressure to agree to anything I was not happy with, and I was given impartial advice Though I only wanted one armchair recovered and reconditioned. We stripped the six dining chair seats to the base frame and re-upholstered them, four chair frames were also repaired and re-glued We used top quality fire retardant foam and recovered them in a hard wearing fabric .

Mike and Eve were customer of ours 15 years ago as they were so pleased with our previous re-upholstery service and excellent finished job we were the obvious choice My partner Karen helped them to choose the perfect fabric from over 150 pattern books in our showroom. I had an old reproduction button back chair that needed revitalising and Derek was happy to reupholster it, having recovered our sofa with purple velvet to an excellent standard. I really wanted a Liberty print fabric but I knew it would be expensive. Derek told me how much fabric I would need and waited patiently for me to buy it and proceed when I was ready. The fabric arrived and Derek took the chair and it away. When he brought it back to choose a braid rather than studding I was amazed and delighted. He suggested I keep the braid catalogue overnight and check my choice in the daylight. I received the completed chair within a couple of days and it looks fabulous. I love this iconic Liberty peacock feather Hera print and have a stunning piece of furniture. Thank you Derek 😊

It was great to work with our customers, their classic deep button back reproduction showood chair was re-upholstered without the buttons as they would distort the beautiful pattern of iconic Peacock Feather Hera the Liberty Print. The chair was trimmed with antique studs before which were replaced by a chocolate coloured gimp/braid which complemented the fabric and the polished showood. Our customer tried out the different density fire retardant foams on offer to choose from, after sitting on them they chose a medium seat grade wrapped with polyester and stockinet lining. We filled their existing seat covers, with the new interiors. The back cushions were filled with polyester fiberfill and rather than replace the interiors completely we put extra filling in them which was the less expensive option. There is no job too small for us to take on, if it is important to our customer it is important to us.

We specialize in traditional antique re-upholstery and use original skills passed on through the ages. The chair was reupholstered in soft chenille, when working on antique upholstery we always use traditional fillings such as horsehair and cotton linter felt i.e. no foam.

I commissioned Dee Cee to repair and reupholster my grandfather's old rocking chair and some more modern dining chairs and they have done a superb job. Karen helped me decide on the right fabrics from an impossibly large array of options and they look perfect now the chairs are done and home. Derek showed great attention to detail on the work, as well as providing a super-efficient collection and delivery service. They only take the chairs away when they are ready to do the work, and the project was complete within a week. The finished chairs are a world away from what they were and are a real enhancement to my home now. Thank you Dee Cee!

A full overhaul and recovering of a three piece suite, restoring it to the same brand new condition as when we bought it nearly twenty years ago. Done quickly within the time estimated and delivered when agreed. The whole process from original visit to delivery went very well. They also supplied furniture for us to use whilst the job was being done. Cost was very similar to a big national company, so it was good to go local.
