We are a family-owned, renewable energy company, operating since 2005. We install solar PV panels, Tesla Powerwalls, heat pumps and solar thermal (hot water) systems. We also provide a comprehensive maintenance and repair service. Based in Horsham, West Sussex we are known for our technical expertise, high standards of workmanship and excellent customer service. We preserve our great reputation by never subcontracting our work to others and we keep our installations to a geographical area that we know we can support with ongoing service.

Sussex Solar were called to resolve an overflow from the Air Source Heat Pump at Fishbourne Church Hall. The response to the call was prompt and efficient and replacement valves quickly sourced. The team were flexible and were able to fit us in, days earlier than anticipated. The engineers were very efficient and tidy and the work completed with minimum disruption. Overall, an all round friendly and helpful team. I would recommend their services.

A squirrel got under my solar panels and attacked the wiring, causing the system to go offline when ever it rained. I made contact with Andrew at Sussex Solar (who were the original installers of my system back in Oct 2015) and reported this issue. After removing the panels, carrying out repairs to the wiring and fitting wire mesh around the panels to prevent further issues with birds, squirrels etc, it became evident that there was an intermittent fault with the inverter. There was still 5 years warranty left on the inverter but it proved difficult to get a replacement from the supplier. I sent three e-mails to the manufacture in China seeking their assistance but I received no replies from them. Sussex Solar agreed to fit a temporary inverter to the system to enable me to try and get the original inverter repaired else where. This again proved fruitless after many phone calls to companies seeking assistance. The upshot is that I had to purchase a replacement inverter. I would like to thank Andrew, Amanda and their team at Sussex Solar for their excellent work and patience in helping me resolve my problem.

Very helpful, friendly, local and knowledgeable family business. Installation was completed with no issues and our property was left clean and tidy. Cost was the best of all the quotes I got but would have chosen Sussex Solar for all the other reason above, cost was an extra bonus. Had a slight issue with Tesla app which was resolved very quickly by Andy. Completely satisfied with the whole experience and now enjoying helping the planet and running my electric vehicle for free.

We're now "off grid" for much of the year! I'm very pleased by Sussex Solar's installation of in-roof solar panels and a Tesla Powerwall. Along with our Tesla cars, this means that we're off grid for electricity and transport for much of the year. All works very well, and being able to see the power flow through the panels, the house and the battery is the icing on the cake.

We chose Sussex Solar because it was a local company; not knowing all the technical demands of a PV/Powerwall system we found ourselves dependent on the advice and expertise of Andy and Amanda Baxter and their team. It took some negotiation and a number of estimates before we were all happy with the final proposal and costings. The panels were fitted in early January and the Tesla Powerwall in early April – all the work was carried out effectively and efficiently by Andy and his team and the final system came in on budget. Sussex Solar offer a personal and bespoke service; emails were replied to quickly, phone calls returned and countless questions were answered – every effort was made to meet our requirements and our needs; we were treated as valued customers from the outset. Sometimes the administrative details went a little awry but we would have no hesitation in recommending this company. We are very pleased with our system and we know that if we have any sort of problem we can contact Andy or Amanda and the issue will be tackled quickly and effectively.

Amanda, Andrew and their team provided excellent service during a very busy time for solar panel installations, with a FIT deadline looming. From the initial visit, through installation and to providing the comprehensive paperwork afterwards I was very pleased with the honest advice and professional service. After telephoning several suppliers about the fact that my solar panels were only supplying half the usual amount of electricity - and mainly getting responses for very expensive solutions - I came across Sussex Solar, who from the start provided a very professional and honest approach to the problem i.e.conduct a proper service and then review. The service concluded that a new inverter was needed but that the panels were fine. Within a week Andy and his team had returned to fit the new inverters, provided me with a great bit of software so that I can monitor power production remotely and given me a fresh new and productive start. The key advantages of choosing Andy and his team are that, unusually for this business, he is always on the customers side. There is no hard sell and no doubt that he is giving you the best and most cost effective solution. Having talked to Andy about batteries and new/future technologies, I am also convinced that he goes out of his way to match their features with customer needs. We are becoming increasingly impressed with the capabilities of the system which you installed in October of last year. Throughout the whole of the darkest months, not a day went by when we did not get some power off the roof, the lowest being just 0.17 Kwh on the 16th January. It was hardly to wondered at that during these darker days we did not accumulate very much stored power in the Powerwall, although I don’t suppose that there were more than a handful of occasions when there was nothing in it. However since the days have started to lengthen we have noticed a very real change in the behavior of the system with every day showing overall (cloud cover permitting) a net gain of power output over the last. This last fortnight, however, has been a revelation with Powerwall attaining full charge for the first time on the 11th Feb, and barely a day since when it has fully discharged. But yesterday was a real landmark, not only did the array fully charge the Powerwall but for three hours in the afternoon we exported to grid for the first time since the battery was connected, and we generated 13.10 Kwh, the highest yet, with the Sun hardly at a high point in the sky. The four panels on the SSE facing aspect of the extension start putting out power by about 9:00 am in good weather and while the main heft is later in the day, from the 10 panels mounted on SW aspect. That start in the morning is enough to stop drawing on the battery at least and put it into standby. So without seeming to gush about this, we are very pleased with this, especially since we had advice some time ago that our house was not suitable for a Solar array, and would be happy to be a referee for any intending customers in the future. All in all we are delighted, although I am glad that in the end we were initially put off e during which time storage became possible and affordable, because without doubt that is a game changer. We foresee days at a stretch now, when we are off the grid altogether for our domestic power. Very best wishes,

Our Air to Water heating system that had been installed by another company last year, stopped working just as the spell of cold weather arrived. After a week of frantic calls to numerous other companies, most of who did not return promised replies, we finally found SUSSEX SOLAR who could not have been more helpful. From the start our problem was treated as a priority and they arranged a visit the next day. The problem was diagnosed as incorrect installation by the company that sold us the system and this had caused the unit to freeze up into a block of ice. Andy spent at least an hour out in the cold defrosting and removing it, before resetting the system and rewiring to remove the problem. From initial telephone call, to job completion, we had friendly, helpful service by expert people who knew what they were doing. We thoroughly recommend this company for service and competence..

On 2 occasions I have been grateful for Andy’s expertise and sound advice. In 2016 I was considering installing an Air Source Heat Pump. The survey showed that it was neither economical or sensible here, and Andy explained this to me, and his honesty impressed me. Therefore when my solar water heating system failed I asked him to look at it. (It was installed in 2006 by another company and recently I had big problems with the servicing personnel) Andy found it to be in a poor state, expensive to repair, and not economical to run, so it was decommissioned. Here is a company that puts its clients first. I highly recommend it.

Sussex Solar quoted for our proposed PV panels early in 2018. We were unable to proceed at that point but some months later, when we were ready to go, this proved no problem. Andy was very helpful and knowledgeable about our options, and also suggested some improvements based on changes in the available technology. The team of fitters were pleasant, and good to have around the house, the roof and garden. They always left the place tidy at the end of the day. After fitting Andy took trouble to ensure our App was working well so we had clear real time data about our solar generation. We have had solar PV panels fitted before about 6 years ago on a previous house, so can realistically compare the process with another installation company. We would thoroughly recommend Sussex Solar based on our experience so far, and would definitely go back to them if we decide to upgrade our battery array.

This was a first time visit !! Andy and his team were right on time, and it was nice to greet a cheerful crew who obviously knew what they were about !they got on with the service and kept us advised at each stage,as to what they were doing.... they were particularly careful not to make any mess or upheaval..eg removing shoes before going on carpeted areas..... everything was completed with the minimum of fuss and we wont hesitate to ask them to return if and when required....

We had 3 people from the firm come to service 4 units on the roof of 8 apartments in Brighton, they were punctual and pleasant . They worked quickly not only servicing the 4 systems but also pointing out several faults they spotted whilst working on the day that were nothing to do with the work they had come to do . They took time to explain the working of the solar panel systems in detail and were extremely helpful pointing out that some expansion tanks (part of the electric boiler systems of some of the neighbors apartments) had fallen off their fittings and needed urgent attention. This saved 2 apartments from a seriously disastrous and dangerous situation for which we were extremely grateful.

Andy and his team originally put the solar panels up on our new build garage in absolutely horrible weather conditions and when they came back to connect them we had mud everywhere but they didn't complain. They were all so polite and professional and cleared up totally after themselves. The work they did was excellent and more than exceeded our expectations. They are the only trade on our new build project to do this! Amanda is also excellent in the back office organising the dates and I would thoroughly recommend this company.

We have been really impressed with Andy and his team. They have been so polite and professional. It was a delight to have them on site. They put the solar panels up in the most torrential rain and when it came to the connection they did it so neatly and without any fuss, leaving no mess whatsoever - the only trade so far to do this in our whole new build!
