Which? Trusted Traders is an endorsement service designed to help customers find traders they can trust In addition to endorsing small to medium-sized businesses that meet the required standards of our rigorous assessment process, Which? Trusted Traders also now endorses the service element provided by retail brands – as long as it meets the required standard. The first of these national installer services to make the grade is B&Q Homefit.
With 25 years’ experience, B&Q Homefit has fitted more than 750,000 rooms across the UK to date. The endorsement of its nationwide service means that thousands of consumers from across the UK will benefit from the extra assurance that the Which? Trusted Traders approved service icon provides.
The B&Q Homefit service is available to B&Q customers who need something installing and/or fitting. Our national endorsement of B&Q Homefit comes at the end of a rigorous, independent assessment process and their installers must now follow our specifically designed code of conduct in order to remain a B&Q Homefit installer.
As well as the usual high standards you’d expect from a Which? Trusted trader, B&Q Homefit also offers a five year guarantee for workmanship.
B&Q Homefit installers cover kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms, windows and doors, plumbing and electrics, and flooring and tiling. So if you’re looking to renovate your home with B&Q, check out its newly endorsed B&Q Homefit service to get started.
Approved service endorsement
Which? Trusted Traders was established by Which? in 2013 to tackle the problem consumers face when looking for reputable tradespeople. The endorsement service aims to help consumers find traders they can trust, while helping those businesses that do operate honestly and fairly stand out from the rest.
The approved service endorsement is a way for retail brands, such as B&Q, to demonstrate to customers that their in-house service is reputable and trustworthy. Just as with individual traders, our trading standards professionals have assessed the service to check that it operates fairly and in accordance with all current regulations.
The approved services endorsement means that Which? Trusted Traders endorses the service provided, rather than the retailer itself or any of the products that it sells. Which? Trusted Traders representatives ensured that B&Q’s installation service had the correct processes in place to deal fairly with customers, in the same way as for any individual trader. With it being such a large company covering such a wide area, the assessment took days rather than hours and was carried out by the most senior assessors.
In addition to B&Q’s own checks and regulations on their installation service, all B&Q installers will have to abide by the Which? Trusted Traders Code of Conduct – a framework of expected behaviour for traders to follow, designed to protect consumers and the traders themselves. The individuals employed by B&Q do not become Which? Trusted traders – it is the service as a whole that is endorsed.
