Therefore, it would surely be wise to pursue any measures possible to mitigate the effects of climate change, to help ensure a more stable climate for future generations.
One proven measure to reduce emissions, is to have your appliance swept regularly and ideally, twice a year, regardless of whether it has been used only once in a year or every day.
This not only reduces emissions but improves the efficiency of your appliance, therefore making it more economical as well as reducing the risks of carbon monoxide poisoning and the build up of soot and creosote in your flue.
Your insurance may be invalidated without proof of a sweep should the unthinkable happen, even if due to an electrical fault.

To stop jackdaws nesting I needed a cowl to be fitted, after clearing the chimney. I booked Chim-me-sweep; he arrived dead on time, carried out the work, with difficulty bringing down a ball of twigs two feet in diameter. He dressed in PPE, wore a face-mask, laid protective material over my carpets between the front door and the fireplace, and was quick, efficient and polite throughout, cleaned up and offered good advice during discussion. When he left there was no trace that he had been, other than a clear chimney and the bundle of twigs at the end of the garden. I would unreservedly recommend this firm.

I had an annual chimney inspection with smoke test and clean. The trader communicated clearly in advance what would happen on the day, and what the requirements were to be Covid secure. The job was carried out very efficiently and there was no mess at all. The trader was friendly and explained the service very clearly, as well as providing advice on how to arrange the wood to achieve the most efficient burn. The cost was also very competitive. We will certainly use this trader for next year's inspection.

We found Robert via Trusted Trader and were impressed with his reviews. We were further impressed when upon phoning to speak with him to arrange a visit he was very helpful in trying to resolve the major soot smell we had encountered in our lounge (prior to him being able to visit). He text us to confirm the visit two days before and this was especially reassuring during these covid times. He uses full PPE and is happy to give advice and answer as many questions as you have. He gave solid advice on positioning our carbon monoxide monitor. We will defo be using him again after the season has finished for a further sweep.
